Tamsui Tianyuan Temple, a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in northern Taiwan, has seen its Yoshino cherry blossoms delayed this year due to an exceptionally cold wave. It is estimated that the Yoshino cherry trees at Tianyuan Temple will not fully bloom until mid-March, so those planning to go cherry blossom viewing will have to wait a little longer!

Tianyuan Temple has planted about 300 Yoshino cherry trees. In previous years, the blooming period was between February and March, with romantic scenes of pink blossoms covering the hillsides making it one of the most beautiful spring landscapes and a top cherry blossom destination. However, due to this year’s cold snap, the Yoshino cherry blossom season has also been delayed. Tianyuan Temple estimates that the Yoshino cherry trees will bloom around mid-March. Currently, the tri-color cherry blossoms on the back hill have already withered, so visitors hoping to admire the Yoshino cherries may need to wait a bit longer before enjoying the full beauty of the blooms.
