The first week features a battle between the hottest cities — Tokyo and Seoul. Netizens can vote online for their favorite city and stand a chance to travel abroad for just 1 yuan. This “1-Yuan Free Travel” City Championship is organized by Expedia. It selects four of the hottest free travel destinations in 2016: Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. The cities compete in pairs, allowing netizens to vote for their favorite travel spots. Additionally, four travel influencers — including Girl Yatou, A-Da, blogger Emma, and Nick — have written travel diaries sharing their hidden gems and favorite foods, guiding participants to enjoy affordable travel.

Expedia states that this year it once again targets Taiwanese travelers seeking overseas free trips, offering up to 36% discounts on flight + hotel packages — saving over one-third of travel costs. Members can also earn points redeemable for future journeys.

Netizens simply need to vote for their favorite travel destination and enter the passcode “36%”. Each week, three lucky participants will be drawn from the top-voted influencers. Over the four-week campaign, 12 winners will be selected to book a 3-day-2-night flight + hotel package for just 1 yuan.

In the first week, Girl Yatou represents Tokyo while A-Da represents Seoul. Currently, Tokyo is leading in the vote count.
