Japan’s Limited-Time “Kumamon Station” for Six Months Also Features the Adorable Kumamon Stationmaster’s Office

Kumamon Now Has Its Own JR Station ! To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Kyushu Shinkansen’s Kagoshima route opening, JR Kumamoto Station has been temporarily renamed “Kumamon Station” (くまモン駅) until the end of September.
Not only has JR Kumamoto Station been renamed, but a “Kumamon Stationmaster’s Office” has also been set up inside the Shinkansen ticket gate area. In addition to displaying photos of famous sightseeing spots in Kumamoto Prefecture, a life-sized Kumamon will be stationed here permanently. From now until September, a variety of commemorative events will also be held here, such as a Kumamon stage performance on March 12 and 13 in front of Hakushu-guchi Station Square, allowing travelers to celebrate together with Kumamon.
