From April 2 to 5, the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park will hold the “a child zone” Children’s Day picnic party. In cooperation with Donghua University, it has organized a range of entertaining parent-child activities, on-site lucky draws, and a variety of exciting performances. The park’s architecture boasts a history of over 100 years and was formerly an old brewery. Now, the preserved historic buildings from the Japanese colonial era have been renovated into various performance spaces, cultural and creative shops, and restaurants—perfect for visitors of all ages.

Continuing the spirit and format of the “Little Meadow, Big Living Room” holiday picnic event, the organizers have retained the core concept of the picnic day while allowing the “Big Living Room” to embrace more local life, culture, goods, and performances. This approach revitalizes cross-disciplinary exchanges in a unique way, warmly welcoming every guest who comes to sit in the park.

The performance events will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on April 2. In addition to live instrumental performances by the Engo Chamber Orchestra, there will also be street performers, performances and workshops by the Ten Drums Art Percussion Group. Furthermore, in collaboration with Donghua University’s Department of Art and Creative Design, a “Little Grass Soldiers Big Adventure” extreme challenge obstacle course game has been launched. Visitors are invited to pick up a challenge card and a lucky draw ticket at the visitor service center. After completing the challenge, they can drop their card into the lucky draw box. A lucky draw will be held before the end of the event.

Fu Ting, Deputy General Manager of the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, said that unlike traditional natural scenic areas, the goal is to allow visitors to experience a blend of culture and recreation. One can admire the architecture and enjoy cultural performances, as well as listen to interesting historical stories. He pointed out that the park has ample green space, shaded rest areas, and provides amenities such as tables, benches, power outlets, Wi-Fi, and baby strollers, making it ideal for families. He also welcomed everyone to come and enjoy the park.
