This summer, southern Taiwan has seen a trend of oversized shaved ice desserts, with many shops going all out to serve fresh fruit shaved ice loaded with generous toppings. ZoneOne 第壹区 in Chiayi, which opened just in May this year, has already attracted foodies with its massive watermelon snowflake ice made from a halved watermelon. Although the peak fruit season has passed, the shop still offers another signature item that’s a must-try even in the cold season.

The shop offers many seasonal, heavyweight ice desserts made with local Taiwanese fruits, such as pineapple boats and watermelon snowflake ice. But now that summer has faded, they’ve introduced another irresistible treat for pudding lovers — an extra-large “Caramel Pudding with Red Beans.” The huge bowl is packed with plump Wan-Dan red beans, topped with a generous serving of handcrafted caramel pudding, giving customers a truly indulgent experience. Its smooth, rich flavor has turned first-timers into regulars. Dig in a little deeper, and you’ll find hidden grass jelly for an extra twist — so good you’ll want it even in winter.

For those who don’t like red beans, there’s also a handcrafted pudding with sweet taro flavor — the creamy texture is just as perfect. The pudding is handmade daily and sold until it runs out. The shop also has another popular item, the “Bubble Tea Snowflake Ice,” which features an authentic tea-flavored snowflake ice without any artificial flavoring. The tea aroma pairs perfectly with chewy black sugar boba, making it addictive even for those with a serious sweet tooth.
