What’s the trendiest and most authentic way to experience Hong Kong in 2016? The answer is to go the hipster route！This year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has themed its promotion “Go. To Hong Kong,” curating three cultural-themed itineraries and launching an exclusive, finely crafted travel guidebook available for free to teach Taiwanese travelers how to authentically experience Hong Kong Island’s culture, Kowloon’s urban creativity, and the serene beauty of the outlying islands' mountains and seas.

Hong Kong is just an 80-minute flight from Taiwan and with over 60 weekly flights between the two regions, it’s an incredibly easy destination for spontaneous trips. Christine Hsu, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Taiwan, noted that in 2015, nearly 2.02 million Taiwanese visited Hong Kong, and visitor numbers from January to February this year grew by 7.4% compared to the same period last year, with over 70% being repeat visitors.

Moreover, according to a VISA survey, 25% of travelers in the Asia-Pacific region traveled solo this year, with a growing desire to be seen as “travelers” rather than tourists. As a result, the guidebook launched by the Hong Kong Tourism Board this year not onlyintroduces the latest Michelin-recommended street food, must-buy local specialties, budget-friendly roast goose eateries where you can enjoy two Michelin one-star meals for just NT$500, and top photo spots like the Graham Street murals in Central, but also features three walking routes in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the outlying islands that offer an intimate glimpse into local life— such as playing a game of foot-powered billiards or spending a night in a transparent bubble hotel under the stars.

With its geographical convenience and diverse flight options, even solo Taiwanese travelers can set off on a whim and discover new sides of Hong Kong with the guidebook. The “Go. To Hong Kong” travel guidebook is now available for free at the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Taipei Office.

Additionally, from now until April 24, 2016, anyone who shares unexpected travel experiences in Hong Kong on personal Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms through photos or videos, while tagging “#DiscoverHongKong,” will have the chance to win a daily draw for Amazon gift vouchers worth NT$30,000. Each week, one lucky winner will also be selected for a luxurious 4-day, 3-night trip for two to Hong Kong.
