New bridge completed – exit Airport MRT Sanchong Station and you’re at the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park

Considering the high vehicle speed on Shuhong East Road in the Sanchong area, New Taipei City Governmentbuilt an overpass bridge connecting to Airport MRT Sanchong Station (Station A2)to enhance pedestrian safety and convenience, promote overall leisure activities, strengthen interactions with neighboring communities, and is expected to realize the concept of “stepping out of the station into the park” once the Airport MRT begins operations. This will allow residents to get closer to the waterfront, nature, and further the vision of a waterfront city.

The Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park boasts beautiful riverside and green landscapes, as well as expansive recreational space. The Ershong Flood Diversion Channel, which previously played a role in flood control, has been transformed into a city park that combines tourism and leisure functions after renovation, becoming a backyard garden for the residents of New Taipei City. Spanning 424 hectares of green space, the park features circular cycling and walking paths along with 68 multifunctional sports facilities. It is divided from north to south intothree major themed areas: “Ecological Experience Zone,” “Metropolitan Sports Zone,” and “Family Leisure Zone.”Stretching across Wugu, Luzhou, and Sanchong districts, this vast greenbelt is an ideal spot for leisure, strolling, and cycling. Happiness Water Ripple Park, Embankment Green Corridor, Wedding Plaza, and Lohas Farm form a low-carbon, healthy riverside area. With the completion of Airport MRT Sanchong Station, it will provide a high-quality living environment in the future.

The bridge is now completed and open to the public. Visitors can overlook the surrounding riverside park scenery from the observation deck. Once Airport MRT Sanchong Station becomes operational, it will further connect routes inside and outside the embankment, reducing safety risks caused by the intersection of embankment-crossing routes and Shuhong East Road traffic, making water-side activities safer.
