The Most Beautiful Finale of Cherry Blossom Season: Kaohsiung’s Liouguei District’s “Thai Cherry Blossoms” Are Now in Full Bloom

Affected by the cold wave earlier this year, the Thai cherry blossoms, also known as “shower trees,” in Kaohsiung’s Liouguei District have only recently entered their blooming period. The peachy-red floral sea set against the blue sky creates a stunning finale to the cherry blossom season. The Liouguei District Office recommends several spots for blossom viewing, including the Tiantai Mountain Yiguandao Temple, the back mountain of Tiantai Mountain, and Provincial Highway 27A.

The Liouguei District Office noted that this year’s shower trees are blooming later than usual. They are now gradually entering their full bloom phase, with the blooming period expected to last about 30 to 45 days, though this still depends on the weather.

For blossom viewing, the Tiantai Mountain Yiguandao Temple and the back mountain of Tiantai Mountain are recommended spots. However, as these locations belong to the temple, visitors must inquire in advance if they wish to enter for flower viewing. Along Provincial Highway 27A, the Liouguei District Office has planted approximately 450 shower trees, creating a scenic “cherry blossom road” that is also highly recommended for local blossom enthusiasts.
