Love American BBQ? Think meatless makes you lean? The popular New York eatery Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque is set to open its first Taiwan location on April 18. Blending the best of Texas and North Carolina BBQ styles, the restaurant uses wood to slow-smoke meats over extended periods, infusing ingredients with the aroma of the original hardwood to preserve the most authentic flavors and juices.

Combining Texas and North Carolina styles, the meat menu includes both beef and pork, as well as chef Hugh Mangum’s signature smoked chicken wings. Menu items include brisket (NT$380), brisket flat (NT$380), pulled pork (NT$320), smoked sausage (NT$290), pork ribs (NT$340), ribeye steak (NT$1200), spicy smoked chicken wings (NT$280), half-roasted chicken (NT$360), crispy spicy chicken burger (NT$310). These prices are for smaller “single serving” portions (about 6 ounces). There are also heavier “by the pound” options priced between NT$460 and NT$950, weighing about 1 pound.

To deliver the authentic Mighty Quinn’s barbecue flavor, Heishihmeng not only sent several chefs to the U.S. for training, but chef Hugh Mangum will also stay in Taiwan for a period to oversee quality. Hugh Mangum noted that the BBQ at Mighty Quinn’s combines two major American traditions—Texas’s favorite dry rub seasonings and the delicious sauces often added during North Carolina’s smoking process—blended into Mighty Quinn’s proprietary recipe.

Besides meat, drawing on his experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants, Hugh has also developed a variety of delicious sides, including earthenware pot sweet potato mash, buttermilk broccoli salad, grilled baked beans, and an exclusive limited-time edamame green bean salad (available as an add-on)—all helping to cut through the richness when paired with beef or pork.
