The 2016 Penghu Fireworks Festivalkicks off on Monday, April 18, with the opening fireworks show to be livestreamed online at 9:00 PM that day, allowing those who can't attend in person to still feel the atmosphere. This year, in addition to inviting international fireworks teams from Japan, China, Italy, Austria, and Russia, a special "O Show" theater tech performance with a diameter of 12 meters and a height of 15 meters will also be featured, combining fireworks with technology for a more spectacular visual experience.

The Penghu Fireworks Festival will be held from April 18 to June 23, with fireworks shows taking place every Monday and Thursday evening, as well as on four Saturdays (April 30, May 7, May 21, and June 18) at the Guanyinting Leisure Area. There will also be shows on May 16 at Jibei and June 4 at Aimen Beach. Additionally, "bonus fireworks" will be presented on Fridays and Saturdays along with light shows and performances, meaning there will be activities every day. The event is expected to attract over 300,000 visitors.
