Waited 20 years！Yilan’s Dongshan River “Eco Green Boat” Park Opens — Free Entry Until End of Year

After 20 years of restoration work, Yilan County’s Dongshan River “Eco Green Boat” park is finally set to officially open on the 22nd！The Yilan County Government has announced that entry will be free for the public this year, while boat rides on the water and eco-education programs will be offered at additional cost. By offering free admission, they hope to showcase Yilan’s unique landscape to people across Taiwan.

Covering a vast area of 18 hectares, formerly known as the Yilan Dongshan River Forest Park, the site is finally opening to the public after years of river improvement efforts. Here visitors can admire the flowing Dongshan River, explore the mysterious fiberglass “Wild Man Cave,” take a boat ride along the river, or climb to the observation deck to catch a train speeding across the iron bridge—all while getting close to nature and experiencing rural life.

The Yilan County Government said that the park will also offer free guided tours at designated spots, aiming to help the public connect with nature and learn about the importance of environmental conservation through these sessions. The opening of the Eco Green Boat park adds another tourism asset to Yilan.

The Eco Green Boat park will open on the 22nd and is expected to offer free entry to the public until the end of the year; boat rides on the water will be charged separately, with full-price tickets at NT$75 and half-price at NT$35. Food and beverage outlets and more shops are set to open starting in the summer vacation.
