Monthly salary starts at NT$50K! Japan Airlines hiring Taiwanese flight attendants after 9-year hiatus — no Japanese test required

Attention job seekers with aviation dreams! After a nine-year break, Japan Airlines is expected to recruit 20–30 new flight attendants by April 30. These new hires will start work in July, with an estimated monthly salary plus allowances starting from NT$50,000.

Eligibility criteria for this Japan Airlines recruitment include holding Republic of China nationality, graduation from a college or university recognized by the Ministry of Education (domestic or overseas), uncorrected visual acuity of 0.1 or above (or corrected vision of 1.0 or above in both eyes with contact lenses), and fluency in English. After a written review, preliminary interviews will be held on May 7–8, a written exam on May 21, and successful candidates will start work on July 1.

Japan Airlines managerWu Chang-lingsaid that it has been nine years since Japan Airlines last recruited flight attendants in Taiwan. Given that Taiwanese passengers account for more than half of the total on JAL’s Taiwan–Japan routes, and considering the high caliber of Taiwanese flight attendants, the airline has decided to open recruitment again in Taiwan. According to past recruitment experiences in Taiwan, each session saw over 3,500–4,000 applicants.

Compared to other airlines, Japan Airlines only requires English proficiency but does not mandate specific English test scores. Wu Chang-ling explained that some applicants have studied abroad and therefore have not taken any official English proficiency exams. As such, applicants just need to self-declare their English abilities. Examiners can further assess language skills through written tests and interviews. Additionally, although it is a Japanese airline, Japanese language ability is considered only an added bonus, not a requirement.
