As the weather warms up, the alpine flowers of Hehuan Mountain are gradually awakening,with the small Qilai Yushan rhododendrons currently being the first to bloom, and a full bloom expected in May and June.The mountainsides will soon be covered in vibrant crimson hues. Aside from Yushan rhododendrons,you can also enjoy the sight of yellow-spotted gentians, Yushan St. John’s wort, alpine roses, and Formosan lilies blossoming,all of which are truly breathtaking. Make sure to plan a trip to Hehuan Mountain to catch the floral beauty while you can!

Visiting Hehuan Mountain in spring and summer, you’ll find buds abundantly hanging from the branches along the trails to Hehuan East Peak and the Main Peak. Yushan rhododendrons begin to flower, with their petals transitioning from peachy pink to light pink and white as they fully open. When in full bloom, their graceful appearance is captivating. To adapt to the harsh alpine environment, Yushan rhododendrons have developed tough, thick leathery leaves with glossy, waxy surfaces and curled leaf edges—all designed to reduce moisture loss and protect against the cold.
