Calligraphy Chicken in Zongzi: Taiwan’s Only “Baked” Zongzi, Priced at NT$1,480 Each

It’s so hot lately — Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner, and various businesses have started launching zongzi products and gift boxes. L’Arc Hotels & Resorts Group’s subsidiary, Asia Gourmet Catering, has launched its first-ever “Premium Eight Treasures Prosperity Zongzi,” priced at NT$1,480 per piece. Due to being handmade by skilled chefs, only 100 pieces are available for limited release.

The Premium Eight Treasures Prosperity Zongzi is created by Yang Guangzong, Executive Chef of Tiensiang Restaurant at L’Arc Taipei Hotel, incorporating the intricate techniques of Hangzhou Imperial Cuisine — Prosperity Chicken. First, fresh abalone, sea cucumber… and other premium ingredients are wrapped inside lotus leaves as the filling, then completely covered with wine lees for baking. It is baked until tender and melt-in-your-mouth soft, with each zongzi taking at least half a day to make.

In addition, from May 9 to June 9, all six L’Arc Store brand outlets, Tiensiang Restaurant, and Tiensiang Mini will offer seven signature zongzi varieties: Tiensiang Dongpo Zongzi, Penglai Char Siu Zongzi, L’Arc Duan Yang Zongzi, Signature Pork Zongzi, Vegetarian Mushroom Zongzi, Purple Rice Red Bean Zongzi, and Lotus Red Bean Zongzi. These selections cover flavors such as northern-style, southern-style, Huzhou-style, sweet, and vegetarian zongzi, with prices ranging from NT$155 to NT$245.
