Snoopy Popcorn Specialty Store Opens – 12 Bucket Designs for Fans to Collect

The globally popular Japanese anime *Chibi Maruko-chan* is a cherished childhood memory for many. Following the opening of a *Chibi Maruko-chan* café in Japan, the world’s first *Chibi Maruko-chan*-themed popcorn specialty store has now landed in Taiwan. The shop offers six flavors of popcorn: Classic Caramel, Extra Rich Cream, Rich Cheese, Crispy Cashew Caramel, Crispy Almond Caramel, and the seasonal limited-edition Crispy Cherry Caramel. Small tins are priced between NT$280 and NT$350, while large tins range from NT$390 to NT$490. There are 12 different sizes and designs of popcorn buckets, each paired with a fixed flavor—no customization or exchanges allowed.

Gary Chan, founder of the *Chibi Maruko-chan* Popcorn Specialty Store, shared that he has loved the anime since childhood and is also a big fan of popcorn. It took him two years to secure the licensing rights from the creator of *Chibi Maruko-chan*. Why choose Taiwan over his native Hong Kong for the first store? Chan explained that after living in Taiwan for an extended period, he noticed locals’ strong love for popcorn, prompting the decision to set up shop there.

The popcorn at the *Chibi Maruko-chan* Popcorn Specialty Store is produced by a fixed partner manufacturer and vacuum-sealed in metal tins, extending shelf life up to six months. There are six flavors, each paired with 12 differently sized and designed tins—for example, Classic Caramel comes in both large and small tins. The large tin features a design of Maruko and Tamae on an outing, while the small tin shows them in sports uniforms on the playground. The popcorn flavor cannot be changed, nor can the tin design for Classic Caramel.

To celebrate *Chibi Maruko-chan*’s birthday on May 8, special promotions are available. Customers who purchase in-store and post a photo will receive a free trial-size popcorn pack and a bottle of *Chibi Maruko-chan* mineral water. Those born on May 8 (like Maruko) can show ID to get an extra small tin of popcorn. Additionally, buying any seven large tins of *Chibi Maruko-chan* popcorn will earn a free large tin of the limited-edition Crispy Cherry Caramel flavor, while purchasing eight or more tins grants free nationwide shipping (offer valid until May 20, 2016).
