The "2016 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta" will begin on July 1 at Luye Gaotai in Taitung, continuing last year’s highly popular hot air balloon sunrise light show. This year, the organizers have planned six hot air balloon light performances, and the shows will not be limited to Luye Gaotai — they can also be seen in Zhiben Hot Springs, Taimali, and downtown Taitung.

The hot air balloon light show will kick off on the evening of July 2 at the Luye Longtian Landing Site grassland. This year’s only two sunrise light shows will be held at Sancian Islet and Taimali — both known as having the most beautiful dawns in eastern Taiwan — on July 9 and July 30 at 4:30 a.m., respectively. During the event period, night light shows will also be presented at Zhiben Hot Springs and Dapochi Pond in Chihshang Township, with the finale taking place in downtown Taitung on August 7 for the closing light show.

The scope of the Taitung Hot Air Balloon Fiesta light shows is no longer limited to Luye Gaotai. Through these performances, beautifully colorful hot air balloons will rise in various corners of Taitung, showcasing the beauty of Taiwan as the “Hot Air Balloon Capital.”
