Zhonghua Noodle & Izakaya Kyoto Gogyo
"Kyoto Gogyo" is an izakaya established in Kyoto by "Ippudo," the renowned tonkotsu ramen brand from Fukuoka that has gained fame across Japan. The original building was once the residence of the famous yG Garden courtesan Kosetsu after she married a wealthy American, and at the back, there is also a large safe deposit vault "Kura" built during the Meiji era, which has now been renovated into a stylish Western-style bar. During lunchtime, Kyoto Gogyo serves tonkotsu ramen in the Ippudo style, while in the evening, the menu features a variety of hot pot dishes paired with alcohol, as well as over 50 types of Japanese sake, primarily awamori and shochu. The most popular dish in the shop is the "Charred Miso Ramen," where the miso soup base is seared until blackened—offering a rich, thick flavor with a distinct smoky aroma from the miso, perfectly paired with the signature "Fukuoka Offal Hot Pot." The intense umami experience is best enjoyed with a glass of crisp Japanese sake, making for a truly satisfying meal.
