Old neighborhoods often give off an aloof and unwelcoming vibe, but with the creative touch of arts groups, idle spaces can be transformed into artistic paradises. The UrbanCore urban art district is an experimental project initiated by the Jut Foundation for Arts and Architecture. After several months of renovation, it has reopened with a brand-new look and shines brightly at the 'West Side Loves Art Summer — 2010 UrbanCore Open Day & Summer Art Party' !
The UrbanCore urban art district is located at Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Taipei City, near the intersection with Aiguo West Road. Since March 2010, numerous arts and cultural groups have moved in one after another. Through the fermentation of artistic creation and the stimulation of design energy, the old neighborhood has been infused with an artistic atmosphere.
The foundation’s summer event 'West Side Loves Art Summer — 2010 UrbanCore Open Day & Summer Art Party' this year brings together arts groups in the district to collaborate. In the form of an art party, it includes musical performances, exhibitions, and open studio tours.
From August 14 to August 29, the "Air City Form" installation art experience exhibition and the "Wrinkles of the Face" wedding photo exhibition across Taiwan will be showcased at UrbanCore Gallery and UrbanCore Café & Bookshelf. Meanwhile, the Summer Art Party will take place on August 21 (Saturday) from 15:00–21:00, inviting the public to witness the new life that has emerged from the revitalized old neighborhood.
