Wine enthusiasts know that high-quality vineyards are typically located between 30° and 50° latitude north and south—the so-called Wine Belt. But how could Thailand, located between 14° and 18° south of the equator, possibly produce premium wine? Yet PB Valley, a top-tier winery in Thailand, has defied expectations, producing world-class wines in large quantities and emerging as a new star in the global wine scene, following the New World wine regions of Central and South America.

PB Valley’s Khao Yai Winery is located near Khao Yai National Park in northeastern Thailand. With fresh air, an elevation of about 300–500 meters, and abundant rainfall of 1,200–1,500 mm annually, the grapes receive ample nourishment during their growing season. The winter season lasts from October to February each year, with average daytime temperatures around 18–20°C and nights dropping to 12–14°C, occasionally as low as 7°C. These favorable geographical and climatic conditions have made PB Valley a remarkable new wine belt marvel at 14.3° south latitude.

PB Valley’s winemaking facility spans 3,000 square meters, with semi-automatic bottling processes. To enhance flavor, the pressed grape juice is aged in French oak barrels and stabilized in stainless steel tanks. With such advanced technology and a 400-hectare planting area, the winery produces 600,000 bottles annually—a key factor in PB Valley becoming Southeast Asia’s largest winery. Currently, PB Valley mainly produces Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Rosé, and Tempranillo, meeting the preferences of most wine drinkers.

In addition to producing premium wine, PB Valley, like wine regions worldwide, offers professional wine tours. Its wine tour program was honored with the Thai Tourism Authority’s Best Travel Award in 2008. The estate also provides simple yet cozy countryside-style accommodations. Located approximately 146 km northeast of Bangkok, it’s an ideal destination for short trips. With great wine comes great food—The Great Hornbill Grill Restaurant at PB Valley offers over 100 dishes and seats 200 guests.
