Silversea’s newest flagship cruise ship, Silver Spirit, with a passenger capacity of 540, will debut its first 119-day “Around the World” cruise in January 2011, sailing across both hemispheres and visiting 25 countries, with Australia and New Zealand among the first destinations. Passengers can also opt for a selection of exciting shorter segments ranging from 10 to 21 days, exploring Polynesia, Australasia, and popular ports in the East, India, and the Middle East.
The first segment of the “Around the World” cruise will depart in grand style from Los Angeles on January 20, 2011, bound for Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. During the 12-day journey, guests will enjoy six days at sea taking advantage of Silver Spirit’s luxurious amenities and services, before arriving at the most remote archipelago in French Polynesia—the Marquesas Islands. Silver Spirit will first call at Nuku Hiva, the main island, followed by Hiva Oa, which is shaped like a seahorse and is the final resting place of famed painter Paul Gauguin and French singer Jacques Brel. The ship will then head to Rangiroa, the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago, to admire its vast turquoise lagoon, before visiting the neighboring islands of Moorea and Tahiti.
Guests joining any segment of the “Around the World” cruise will enjoy complimentary Silversea Experiences cultural excursions, such as Polynesian craft demonstrations in the Marquesas Islands; in-depth explorations of New Zealand’s history and Māori culture; attendance at an exclusive cultural evening at Melbourne’s world-renowned Regent Theatre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; opportunities for snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef; scenic boat rides to admire Ha Long Bay’s 3,000 limestone islets; immersive experiences of Kerala’s unique traditions and scenery; and visits to the magnificent ancient monuments in Luxor, Egypt.
The entire 119-day “Around the World” cruise departs from Los Angeles and ends in Southampton.
