Italy’s new luxury hotel Il Salviatino has been internationally recognized as the latest masterpiece in Tuscany, and in 2010, it scooped multiple prestigious international awards for the world’s best new hotels. The hotel was formerly a 15th-century noble villa, located in the hilltop town of Fiesole, just minutes from the center of Florence. It was recently featured on the “Hot List 2010” of Condé Nast Traveller’s “66 Best New Hotels in the World.”
The Il Salviatino villa features 45 guest rooms and houses the first European outpost of Thailand’s renowned Devarana Spa. It has also been nominated for “Italy’s Leading Boutique Hotel” and “Europe’s Leading New Hotel” at the World Travel Awards. Additionally, Il Salviatino was included in Travel + Leisure’s “It List” of the “45 Best New Hotels 2010.” The magazine noted: “For years, the grand Villa San Michele has been the international luxury accommodation of choice in Florence’s beautiful hills, but with the arrival of Il Salviatino, Villa San Michele finally has some competition.”
The magazine added: “Hidden among ancient cypresses in Fiesole, this magnificent 15th-century villa feels like an exclusive retreat from the world, with its meticulously restored gardens. The hotel seamlessly blends the old and the new, exuding a relaxed and refined atmosphere — its wood-paneled library is majestic, its rooms display 17th-century oil paintings, and its terrace features white leather English classic sofas where guests can gaze at the iconic Florence Cathedral and enjoy sweeping views.”
The luxury travel magazine Luxury Travel Magazine also listed Il Salviatino as one of the “Best New Hotels in the World 2009,” praising it for “boldly combining contemporary design and luxurious taste with the historical ambiance of 18th and 19th-century Italy, breathing new life into a historic architectural masterpiece.”
