In recent years, tourism in Tainan has flourished, with many young people returning to their hometowns, injecting new vitality into the historic city. As a result, many old buildings have been preserved and repurposed, now greeting travelers with a fresh new look.

Located deep within Tainan’s famous Shennong Street, “Shenrong 147” gets its name from the over-300-year-old banyan tree standing next to the old building.
The interior layout of the guesthouse remains unchanged from 60 years ago, exuding a strong vintage charm.
The old house was once a self-run suit factory and residence, but due to booming business and insufficient space, the owners moved out. Luckily, the unoccupied building was preserved over time, with all its original elements left intact.

Transformed from an ancestral home into a guesthouse, Shenrong 147 has taken seven full years—from tearing down walls, repairing plaster, repainting, and renovating, to the owner learning about coffee, brewing, latte art, and finally welcoming guests. The old house’s story has become an important memory in travelers’ journeys.
Every corner of the guesthouse is enchanting, thanks to its collection of vintage items.
From tiled floors, window grilles, wooden doors, washed stone flooring to various pieces of furniture, every brick and tile in the old house carries the marks of time while radiating vibrant life.
