The Victoria Park Flower Show has kicked off (March 15–24), marking the official arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. While Japan’s beloved cherry blossoms have yet to fully bloom, poppies in California have stolen the spotlight. Recently, in Walker Canyon, about 112 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles, rolling hills have been blanketed with vibrant orange poppies, reportedly attracting over 50,000 visitors for photos and sightseeing.

It is reported that unusually heavy rainfall has led to the lush growth of poppies, transforming the once green hills into a vast expanse of orange. Back in 2017, the poppies here also bloomed spectacularly, and thanks to indirect promotion via social media, the site gained significant fame. This year, the number of visitors has increased even further, with landscape photographers and selfie enthusiasts everywhere. They persistently search for the best angles, and their work proves that their efforts are well worth it—many photos are simply breathtaking.
