2019 Fish Light Island Art Festival – Admire Installation Art Under the Breathtaking Sunset

Breathtaking installation art set against a beautiful sandy beach — Fish Light Island, known as the most photogenic spot in southern Taiwan, will host the 2019 Fish Light Island Art Festival at the end of March. Travelers can interact with and take photos alongside a variety of stunning installations.

The 2019 Fish Light Island Art Festival will kick off at the end of March. With the theme “A New Paradise on the Island,” the festival has invited seven artist groups to create 10 installations that blend with the local landscape of Fish Light Island. Over the 23-day exhibition period, there will also be hands-on workshops, weekend markets, and artistic performances, making it a lively event.

This year’s Fish Light Island Art Festival hopes that artists will use childhood memories and visions of a paradise, combined with the island’s natural surroundings, to present the concept of a new island paradise. This allows the public to experience and create beautiful life memories through appreciation, interaction, and participation.

Organized by the Tainan Urban Art Workshop, this year’s festival invited seven artist teams. These include artist You Wenfu, who created the Misty Forest installation at the first Fish Light Island Art Festival, the architecture team from National Kaohsiung University of the Arts led by Zheng Chengqi, who has participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale, as well as Liang Laichang, the design team San Miao Space Experiment, and local residents and elementary school students, all of whom have collaborated to create 10 works for the festival.

During the exhibition period, various workshops are also planned. The “Soaring with the Fish” kite-painting workshop lets participants paint their dreams on kites, while the “Fish Light. Sea: Fishing Net Regeneration Workshop” recycles old fishing nets to make hanging lamps. There’s also “Blueprint Impressions,” where local plants are used with cyanotype techniques to create unique artworks.
