Tourism Center / Comprehensive Report
In recent years, many “hidden gems” in Taiwan have been discovered and promoted through the news, showcasing their beauty to more people and attracting numerous visitors, eventually becoming popular tourist attractions. Many of these hidden beach spots look beautiful in photos, but in reality, they are full of trash and large debris, most of which drift from far away. Would you pick them up if you saw them or turn a blind eye?
The Facebook fan page “Deep 'Travel” was influenced by Teacher Wu Wenzhi and began inviting fans to join beach clean-ups. So far, they have visited over 20 beaches for clean-ups. This interview also mentioned the top five dirtiest beaches in the northern region that left a deep impression, some of which are well-known photo spots.Deep 'Travel states that the proportion of trash on the beach thrown by tourists is very low. Most of it drifts over from the other side of the strait. It mainly includes Styrofoam, plastic bags, buoys, ropes, medical waste, glass bottles, plastic bottles, lighters, drink cans, foam, fishing lines, fishing nets, and other types of large garbage.

Taiwan’s beauty needs to be seen. Is it really a bad thing to publicize hidden scenic spots? Hidden gems offer healing views to humans, so what can we give back? Besides not leaving trash, next time try taking more trash away with you. Bring plastic bags and tongs, and work together to maintain the beauty of hidden beach areas.
