Beyond enjoying Hualien’s stunning landscapes, there are also plenty of thrilling recreational activities to try. Located in Shoufeng Township, the Wild Monkeys Adventure Forest offers a "canopy adventure" that combines ecology and sports—perfect for nature lovers who crave a challenge, suitable for all ages from 5 to 65. Wear a safety harness to walk above the forest and glide along steel cables, including one section that soars over a 30-meter-deep cliff edge, making you feel like Tarzan. It’s a back-to-nature green eco-adventure.

At the beginning, you’ll follow the instructor’s guidance to put on the safety harness and gear. The forest features various aerial platforms that allow visitors to move between the treetops using different methods, including zip lines, elevated walkways, suspension bridges, steel cables, and climbing ladders. The zip line experience gives you the feeling of being an "aerial acrobat," as if you’re Tarzan swinging through the woods—but safely.

While focusing on conquering each obstacle, you’ll breathe in the forest’s phytoncides, making it a truly back-to-nature green eco-adventure. After completing the full course of 19 stations, spanning over 500 meters through the air, you not only gain a sense of achievement but also feel mentally refreshed. That’s why it’s also great for families—children can learn to overcome challenges and build confidence in a safe environment with instructors.

Such zip line adventure activities are very expensive abroad (such as in New Zealand, Australia, the U.S., and Canada), often costing several thousand New Taiwan Dollars, and participants may also face language barriers with instructors, with fewer activity options. In contrast, Hualien’s canopy adventure is richly designed—with a single entry fee of just NT$800, many thrill-seeking adventurers praise it as “extremely good value!”

The Wild Monkeys Adventure Forest also boasts a rich and diverse seasonal rainforest ecosystem. The dense canopy provides excellent nesting spots for birds, along with common species of trees such as oak, beech, varnish tree, and large-leaf nanmu saplings. There’s also coffee and cocoa cultivation. On clear days after the rain, you might spot a crested goshawk soaring overhead, while Formosan macaques occasionally come by to watch the excitement. So even if you’re not taking on the adventure yourself, you can wait at the rest area, cheer on your companions as they tackle the course, and enjoy the rich canopy ecology.
