The leading department store in southern Taiwan, Hanshin Department Store, has officially reopened on March 15 after a NT$2 billion renovation.

This renovation not only gives Hanshin a brand-new, shiny image with an abundance of luxurious crystal chandeliers in its hardware, but also significantly expands its boutique floors. With a diverse range of boutique items and exclusive offerings in Kaohsiung, it has become Taiwan’s most comprehensive boutique shopping destination. During the first four days of the official reopening, Hanshin Department Store offered a variety of gifts for reaching spending thresholds and exclusive discounts. In addition to concierge-exclusive benefits such as a NT$4,000 instant discount on purchases of NT$20,000 or more at certain luxury brands, there were also numerous gifts for reaching spending thresholds at well-known beauty and skincare brands.

Since its opening in 1995, Hanshin Department Store has now entered its 25th year, establishing itself as an international-level urban department store in southern Taiwan. It meets all-around needs in food, clothing, housing, education, and entertainment, while providing a consumer environment and services that keep up with the times to cater to changing demands. Both the main Hanshin building and the Dome building have achieved counter-cyclical growth, with annual turnover repeatedly hitting new highs and achieving outstanding results. The store holds a 56% market share in Kaohsiung’s department store scene, firmly maintaining its position as the dominant department store in southern Taiwan.

In recent years, Taiwan’s department store industry has been increasing the proportion of dining options, but Hanshin has instead expanded and renovated its boutique floors. Positioning itself as a top-tier boutique department store, it targets the top of the pyramid customer segment. In terms of hardware, it has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, redecorating the boutique floors in a fresh and bright style, while also expanding the boutique section to five floors. The number of brands has increased to nearly 50, enhancing richness and diversity. It also adopts the internationally common “hotel and shopping mall integrated” design, allowing direct access to Hanshin Department Store from the lobby of the Howards Plaza Hotel.
