The second round of one of the three major event themes of the 2011 Tainan Dim Sum Festival, the "48-Hour Foodie Check-in Challenge," will launch this week on December 16. For those who missed the previous round, or have freshly crafted the ultimate strategy and want to register again to compete for the 10,000-yuan prize, now’s the time to act fast!

The "48-Hour Foodie Check-in Challenge" is held over three weekends in December, divided into three rounds. The rules are that each participating team must visit any two food establishments participating in the Tainan Dim Sum Festival within each of the “Eight Slow Food & Happy Living Zones,” which are spread across seven administrative districts of Tainan. They need to dine there and upload photos to Facebook as check-ins. The top three teams that complete check-ins at all 16 food spots across the eight zones the fastest will win first, second, and third prizes of 10,000, 6,000, and 3,000 yuan, respectively.

The first round, which started on December 9 (Friday), saw a total of 14 teams sign up, but only 8 reported successfully completing all 16 check-ins. The fastest team completed their run through all “Eight Slow Food & Happy Living Zones” in just 2 hours and 53 minutes. However, it was found that most of the photos submitted by teams did not meet the competition requirements. The Tourism Bureau urged participants to read the rules carefully – uploaded photos must include all team members, the name of the shop, the dishes ordered, and must clearly show the food looking appetizing, to avoid disqualification. In the end, the top prize was tied between a couple who finished their check-ins in about 5 hours and the trio from Slow Boat BBQ, while third place was left vacant.
