Reborn after destruction — Glide along the Breeze Canal!

The Breeze Canalis a recreational hub for water sports enthusiasts who enjoy activities such as water skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing. However,it was severely damaged by Typhoon Soudelor last year, with extensive destruction to its facilities.To meet public needs for leisure and instructional use, the New Taipei City Government has been repairing the central floating platform and floating dock facilities, which have now been completed. The site will reopen to the public in a brand-new state.

The Breeze Canal is an artificially dug waterway whose water levels remain relatively stable and are less affected by tides. It is an important recreational spot for water activities in the Greater Taipei area, attracting large numbers of visitors during summer holidays and weekends. However, last year’s Typhoon Soudelor caused damage to the central floating platform and floating dock of the Breeze Canal. Although water activities could still take place, the New Taipei City Government decided to carry out repairs in the interest of public safety. The repair work included dismantling and reinstalling pontoons, replacing roller assemblies, extending and reconnecting fixed piles, removing existing wooden decking, and installing new dock railings. These works have now been completed, aiming to provide the public with a high-quality water recreation environment.
