The predecessor of Antong Hot Spring Hotel was a guesthouse for Japanese government officials. The Japanese Crown Prince once visited this place in person, and the original Japanese-style wooden building has been preserved. Although the only tatami dormitory room is simple, it deeply touches the hearts of nostalgic travelers.

After being converted to private operation in 1974, the owner built two Western-style buildings next to the wooden structures to accommodate more visitors coming to soak in the hot springs and stay overnight. The outdoor hot spring pool has been renovated—its space expanded and equipped with various spa facilities. The indoor bath is built with rugged rocks from the Hualien River, retaining an old-fashioned rustic charm.
