Only 168 bottles available per day – Kaohsiung’s specialty coin-operated “black fresh milk tea”!

Kaohsiung’s specialty bubble tea vending machine has added another location – this time not only offering classic fresh milk tea, but also debuting a “black fresh milk tea”. With only 168 bottles available daily, once they’re sold out you’ll have to wait until the next day. Everyone is curious about what this “black flavor” actually tastes like.

Mr. Xu from “Hoou Wait Specialty Mixes” explained that as a lifelong milk tea enthusiast, he, along with his family, wanted to create their own unique milk tea flavor. After constantly adjusting the ratios of black tea, sugar, and New Zealand fresh milk for a month, they finally settled on the current taste. The brand name is inspired by the Cantonese phrase “猴猴味” (pronounced hóu hóu mei), which means delicious, slightly modified to become what we now see as “Hoou Wait”.

Currently, Hoou Wait offers three types of milk tea: Classic Fresh Milk Tea, Black Fresh Milk Tea, and Oreo Black Fresh Milk Tea. Among them, the Black Fresh Milk Tea is the most intriguing. Mr. Xu said that becauseOvaltine is added to the fresh milk tea, giving it a darker color, it is named “Black Fresh Milk Tea”. The Oreo Black Fresh Milk Tea contains crushed Oreo cookie bits, so you can actually taste the fine cookie particles in the drink.

Comparing the taste of the Classic Fresh Milk Tea and the Black Fresh Milk Tea, Mr. Xu pointed out that the Classic version initially tastes richer in milk flavor, but then the black tea brings out a sweet aftertaste. On the other hand, the Black Milk Tea gives off a stronger Ovaltine flavor at first sip, but gradually reveals the aroma of black tea and fresh milk.

All three drinks from “Hoou Wait Specialty Mixes” are made using black tea that has been steeped for 8 hours before preparation. They are also freshly made and sold on the same day, with a daily limit of 168 bottles. Refills are scheduled at 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM. If you’re looking to try different flavors of milk tea, this is your newest option.
