To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding, Fo Guang Shan in Kaohsiung will present the “Light Illuminating a Thousand Worlds” fireworks show at 8 PM tonight on the Buddha’s Path of Enlightenment at the Buddha Memorial Center. It is expected to become the most dazzling spectacle in the southern Taiwan night sky this evening.
Fo Guang Shan is not only the largest Buddhist temple in Taiwan but also a popular tourist destination in Kaohsiung. Since its completion in 2011, its grand layout—“eight pagodas in front, the Great Buddha behind, the Sacred Mountain of the South, and the yG Garden to the north”—and the majestic Great Buddha statue visible from afar have made it a must-visit site not just for domestic tourists but also for many international visitors. The number of people coming to sightsee and pay their respects surges during holidays and special events.
