Not long after opening, the “Meiyi Sandwich” quickly became a favorite among many, and the reason is simple—the owner’s insistence on premium ingredients and her ideals have made this modest-looking sandwich a big success. The shop is situated on Daudun 12th Street in Nantun District, Taichung City, opens for sales at 12:00 noon daily, and usually sells out by the afternoon around 3 or 4 pm. The shop meticulously chooses locally produced, inspected agricultural goods, combining them simply with alkaline ionized ocean water and Lomi toast, all handcrafted without any preservatives or synthetic seasonings—clearly reflecting the owner’s strong principles. Moreover, to allow everyone to savor the most natural and original flavors, the prices are set reasonably. It’s truly a case of not sparing any cost to deliver incredible value, and this earnest dedication is also what sustains her. Though the effort is demanding, she remains happy, and customers get to enjoy the most authentic natural taste!
%The sandwich that bursts with flavor is made using sweet potatoes, taro, and pumpkin that are rigorously tested and selected from local farms, and are completely handmade without preservatives or artificial additives—that’s why they offer such an incredibly fresh taste.

%Many customers who visit say they’ve never tasted sweet potatoes, taro, or pumpkin like this before in the city.

%The menu options are simple, featuring only sweet potato, taro, pumpkin, and cheese fillings, plus the choice between alkaline ionized water or mineral water—so you can enjoy different combinations each time you visit.

%The reason the sweet potato flavor stands out is because it uses only rigorously tested and selected sweet potatoes from local farms, all completely handmade without preservatives or artificial flavorings—that’s why customers can enjoy the most genuine and rich flavors of the ingredients.

%In addition, there’s detailed information about the taro and pumpkin used, as well as the rigorous selection process for the local farm produce. Those interested can learn more.

%We’ve also included photos of the fresh produce used, so customers can clearly see the quality of the vegetables being used.

%The sweet potato used is the premium No. 7 and Tainong 66 varieties grown with organic farming methods. DaKou recently visited the Qingquan farm and has great confidence in their quality and standards. The taro is carefully selected from Dajia taro, which not only has non-toxic certification but also boasts excellent texture and aroma!

%The pumpkin is made from pesticide-free varieties with GMP certification, so the owner even blends the pumpkin skin into the puree used for the

Some people say that the sandwiches here are either too simple or too greasy, but actually, they’re not like that at all. It’s just because some customers gave negative feedback after trying the original style, saying it was too rich or didn’t suit their taste, so the owner made adjustments. It’s really a thoughtful move!

The most classic here is still their original chicken sandwich. There are also options like pork floss and tuna, and if you’re visiting for the first time, you can start with this signature sandwich.

In addition, their tuna sandwich is also very popular. It comes with tuna mayonnaise, and is also one of the fan-favorite options.

There’s also a newly developed bacon egg sandwich, which lets you enjoy both the egg and bacon flavors in one bite. If you’re someone who can’t decide between eggs or bacon, you might want to try this one.

And then there’s their ham sandwich. It looks simple, but it’s surprisingly delicious. Their sandwiches are all priced at 28 NT each, or 25 NT for two or more. There’s really no such thing as “you get what you pay for” here — it’s just high quality, great value, and made without cutting any corners!

Another classic here is the winter melon tea (large size / 20 NT), which has only recently been added to the menu since May. The winter melon chunks used are from the well-known Yi-Feng Winter Melon Tea in Tainan. It tastes natural, sweet, and super thirst-quenching. It’s also the brand of winter melon tea that Da Kou (the reviewer) loves the most!

All the ingredients used in their sandwiches are carefully selected by the owner. They even go to Taiwan to source some of them. They hope everyone will also enjoy these delicious and natural ingredients.

The combination of the chicken sandwich and winter melon tea is not only a great lunch combo, but also a perfect light dinner option.

Just a heads-up: since their sandwiches are all handmade, the filling thickness might vary a bit, but that’s also the best proof that they’re made by hand!

Also, their sweet potato toast is made using non-sticky pan-toasted bread. The main reason is that they don’t add too many extra ingredients. Although many people are used to sweet and sticky flavors, their method is actually quite unique. After toasting, they sprinkle brown sugar on top, then add mashed sweet potato, a drizzle of condensed milk, and a little butter. Finally, they toast it again until golden. Not only can you taste the sweetness and fiber of the sweet potato, you can also faintly detect a hint of honey-like aroma, plus the fragrance of the toast and the slightly crispy edges. The texture isn’t too dry, and it’s seriously addictive!

That’s why when we told the owner about this, they specially made us another batch. We really hope they’ll keep making these naturally delicious treats.

If you’re not in the mood for sweet potato toast, you can also try the tuna sandwich. It has a rich umami taste that’s unforgettable. Or if your friend prefers something lighter, they can choose the winter melon tea. The flavors complement each other really well.

Next up is the purple sweet potato sandwich. It’s made with purple sweet potato and non-sticky toast. It doesn’t look as vibrant as the ones you see outside, which is actually the best proof that no artificial flavoring is added!

It’s surprisingly fragrant and sweet, and pairs perfectly with the aromatic white toast. It’s so good, you’ll fall in love at first bite!

Because there’s no sticky purple sweet potato or overly sweet condensed milk, and no other additives mixed in with the bread, the sandwich achieves a uniquely delicate balance. The bread isn’t dry or crumbly, and it goes really well with the sweet and fragrant toast.

The sweet potato and toast combo is also great because you can have either the sweet potato or the toast on its own, or mix them together. Sometimes you might want more sweet potato, sometimes more toast. This combo gives you the best of both worlds. It’s hearty, satisfying, and the slightly sweet toast is a perfect match!

Their classic chicken sandwich is handmade every day, and they only start selling at 2 PM. Once it’s sold out, it’s gone for the day. To maintain quality, they’ve also temporarily stopped accepting pre-orders. So if you want to try it, hurry up and get there fast — and remember to leave some for other friends to try too!!!

Apart from takeout, “Meiyi Sandwiches” keeps its store compact, giving off a cozy and small-scale charm. The shop carefully selects ingredients and handcrafts wholesome sandwiches that may look simple and unadorned, but deliver a naturally delightful flavor that many fall in love with after just one bite—tasting both sweet and delicious while also being guilt-free. The owner doesn’t aim to rush sales just to head home early; instead, she wants more people to enjoy this natural goodness. That’s why she doesn’t push for quick sales, preferring that customers come back because they genuinely loved it. To maintain freshness, it’s best enjoyed the same day when the taste and texture are at their peak. If you can’t finish them all, storing them in the fridge or freezer works too, offering a different but equally enjoyable experience. Recommended for everyone—if you’re curious, give it a try—you might just fall for this natural deliciousness as well!
