From today until February 12, the Citian Temple in Beibu Township, Hsinchu County, is holding the long-absent “Noon Feast” (Dajia Sanxiang Ying Shen Shifu Da Zhongwu) event. The highlight of the event kicks off at 7:00 AM on Saturday (the 11th), when the temple’s Guanyin Bodhisattva and Mazu will be invited to parade through the “Dajia area” (namely Beibu, Emei, and Baoshan townships) to pray for favorable weather and peace for the local communities. During the procession, the distinctive traditional custom of “Da Zhongwu” (Noon Feast) will be held, where local residents prepare their signature dishes and set up roadside banquet tables filled with various Hakka cuisines to treat the parade participants and attendees. There will also be the traditional folk performance of “Welcoming Antiques,” where 80 groups forming the parade troupe will celebrate in a carnival-like fashion alongside the deities’ procession.

Additionally, during the event period, at the plaza in front of Citian Temple, the Songxing Drama Troupe will perform Hakka opera, and there will be exhibition booths selling agricultural specialties such as citrus fruits, Oriental Beauty tea, and dried persimmons. As it is currently peak season for tangerines, customers who purchase more than 20 jin (about 11 kg) will receive a tangerine-shaped LED lamp as a gift, limited to 200 pieces and while supplies last.
