March 13 marks the opening day of the Alishan Flower Festival. Despite recent unstable weather on the mountain, the King Cherry Blossom remains unfazed by wind and rain, blooming beautifully.

The cherry blossoms in Alishan bloom in a sequence, starting with the Beni-shidare, Ryukyu Mountain Cherry, Wu Sheh Cherry, and Thousand Island Cherry. They are then followed by the main stars of the festival—the pink and white Somei Yoshino cherries that steal the show, while the star-shaped Ohshima cherries mark the finale of the single-petal blossoms.

By the end of March, double-petal cherry blossoms make their appearance, including the Weeping Cherry, Takasago Cherry, Benzaiten Cherry, Kanzan Cherry, Beni-kawa, Kirin Cherry, Goshiki Cherry, Ichihara Cherry, Tulip Cherry, and Wanlixiang, all competing in a dazzling display of beauty.
