At the end of 2011, Taiwan and Hong Kong finally signed a new air rights agreement, increasing the number of weekly flights between the two regions from 170 to 205. Flights are now readily available from Taoyuan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, all offering direct routes to Hong Kong. With ample seat availability, airlines have begun offering promotional fares, and in turn, Hong Kong independent travel packages have also launched limited-time ultra-low-price deals on the market. China Airlines is offering a 3-day 2-night trip with taxes included starting from just ¥7,999, while Hong Kong Airlines is also starting from ¥8,888.

In March, besides Hong Kong Airlines offering a low price of ¥4,600 (excluding tax), EVA Air is also offering fares starting from ¥4,635 (excluding tax) from now until March 24, while Cathay Pacific’s limited-time special offer tickets are available from ¥4,640 (excluding tax) during the same period. For independent travel, China Airlines and nine other travel agencies are offering 3-day 2-night Hong Kong packages, including early-morning departure and late-evening return flights plus two nights of hotel accommodation (different agencies package different hotels, with options such as The Royal Park Hotel, Silka Far East Hotel, Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan, and the Four-Person Shared Room at East Point City Hotel). Departures before March 24 are available with taxes included starting from just ¥7,999—contact Baiwei, Yingjia, Kangfu, Southeast, ETrip, EasyJet, Zhengtai, Canxing, and Lion Travel for details. Hong Kong Airlines’ packages start from ¥8,888 (taxes included) for a 3-day 2-night trip, also including flights and two nights of hotel stay, plus a round-trip shuttle bus ticket from Hong Kong Airport to the hotel, a full-day Octopus card for the MTR, and—if you take an early flight—an additional voucher for Häagen-Dazs desserts, an open-top bus tour ticket, and a one-way Peak Tram ticket.

Additionally, China Airlines and HSBC have jointly launched the “Hong Kong Michelin Gourmet Tour – Foodie Package,” featuring nine hotels including City Garden, Holiday Inn Golden Mile, The Royal Park Hotel, The Peninsula Hong Kong, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, THE MIRA Hong Kong, InterContinental Hong Kong, Kowloon Shangri-La, and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental. These packages offer a 2-day 1-night stay with a Michelin-starred meal. For departures before the end of May, the lowest-priced option is the City Garden Hotel paired with the newly Michelin one-star Chinese restaurant “Yue,” with taxes included starting from just ¥10,842; while Amber, the Michelin two-star French restaurant located in The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, has not only been selected as one of the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” but is also the only restaurant in Hong Kong to make the list. The Foodie Package for this option starts from ¥21,842 (taxes included), which includes a value of ¥7,500 for the Amber Michelin two-star dinner.
