To celebrate the 2012 Arts Festival, the North American Gallery will offer free admission to its exhibitions all day on March 25 (Sunday), the festival day. The main event, “Messages of Spring at Treetops,” will also take place in the afternoon in the Gallery’s lobby, featuring large-scale painting creation activities in group settings. Starting at 10:00 a.m. on March 13, online reservations will be available. Families and friends are welcome to visit the North American Gallery together and immerse themselves in the artistic ambiance of spring.

The “Messages of Spring at Treetops” event echoes the recent revitalization of the children’s educational space at the North American Gallery. Through a collective tree-shaped painting activity, it symbolizes the anticipation of planting a tree, envisioning the future birth of an open, friendly space that serves as a social hub and promotes interaction and dialogue—an art education center. On March 25, each registered group, under the guidance of staff, will use various art supplies and colored paper to decorate a 220-centimeter-tall tree-shaped cardboard structure. Participants may also bring their own materials to personalize their theme trees. The 30 completed theme trees will stand together in the Gallery lobby, creating an indoor forest. All participants and visitors can admire or sit beneath the trees, sharing their creative thoughts and enjoying an imaginative, artistic experience.
On the Arts Festival day, March 25, the North American Gallery will showcase a variety of exhibitions, including the ongoing “Taiwan Contemporary: Playing with Antiquity to Allude to the Present” on the first floor, “Traversing Jiangnan—Chen Cheng-po’s Artistic Journey” on the second floor, “Tiny Perspectives—Dot. Dot. Dot” on the third floor, as well as upcoming exhibitions “Chen Shiming → Probing Contexts” and “Huang Mingchang’s Inner Field.” Educational programs include general group guided tours (10:30, 14:30) and family-friendly “Playing with Antiquity, Acting in the Present” tours with creative activities (10:30, 13:30, 15:30). Additionally, from now until March 31, all books in the Gallery’s underground “Art Bookstore” will be discounted by 10%, with some items available at a special 50% off (excluding already discounted items).
