A big recruitment drive is underway for cherry blossom experience officers in Shinshu, Nagano, and Gunma. From March 13 to March 29, simply visit the “Romantic Blossoms – Shinshu, Nagano, Gunma Sakura Viewing Experience Sign-Up” campaign website and fill out a questionnaire for a chance to win the grand prize: a 4-day, 3-night Japan cherry blossom self-guided trip.

The nearby areas of Shinshu, Nagano, and Gunma in the Greater Tokyo region are collectively known as the “Jōshin’etsu” area. In addition to famous cherry blossom spots such as the Takato Castle Site Park and Matsumoto Castle in Nagano, the region also features the scenic Shinshu tulip fields. Due to this winter’s severe cold in Japan, the Japan Meteorological Association predicts that the cherry blossom season will begin in late March this year, about 3–5 days later than usual. Meanwhile, the most popular Kanto region among Taiwanese tourists is expected to see blooms starting in early April.
The “4-Day, 3-Night Sakura Viewing Self-Guided Trip to Shinshu, Nagano, and Gunma” includes round-trip economy class flights from Taipei to Tokyo, a 5-day JR East Pass, three nights of single-room accommodation at hotels near famous cherry blossom spots in the three prefectures, as well as local specialty products from various parts of the Jōshin’etsu region.
