The "100% Rural Tourism Across the Strait" event, jointly held by Shandong and Taiwan, will be launched this May. The Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau has planned four major tour packages that combine high-end agriculture, historical sites, and local scenery, offering visitors an in-depth experience of Shandong’s ecology, history, and culture.

Shandong and Taiwan have a long history of exchanges. In 2011, 490,700 Taiwanese visited Shandong, while 65,500 people from Shandong traveled to Taiwan. This year, the Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau has created four major tour packages for the "100% Rural Tourism Across the Strait" event: "Strolling Through Qilu," "Flowers of Shandong," "Shandong’s Dual Heritage: Canal Ancient City," and "Fairyland Yantai, Scenic Countryside." These tours will take visitors to explore Lotus Mountain, the hometown of Confucius—Qufu, the Taierzhuang Canal Ancient City, as well as participate in cherry-picking in Qingdao’s Beizhai area, or go crab fishing and sailing with fishermen on Yantai’s Changdao Island to experience rural life.
A total of 14 travel agencies are participating in the "100% Rural Tourism Across the Strait" event, including Lion Travel, K&M Travel, Shanzu, Southeast Travel, XiHong Travel, XinTai Travel, WuFu Travel, BaiWei Travel, EasyGo Travel, CanSstar Travel, XiMei Travel, ShiBang Travel, DaXing Travel, and Taiwan China Travel. Detailed itineraries and content will be unveiled at the Taipei International Travel Fair this May.
