Recognized as one of the "Top 10 Most Beautiful Bicycle Paths in the World," the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Loop draws many cycling fans. From now until April 28, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration is running the “Sun Moon Lake Cycling Joy Ride” event. Simply cycle around the lake and check in on Facebook or upload a cycling photo to receive a Sun Moon Lake map and magic scarf. In addition, from April 15 to May 6, there will be a “Firefly Eco Tour” every evening at 7 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy both a lakeside bike ride and a firefly-watching experience in one trip.

The “Sun Moon Lake Cycling Joy Ride” event is divided into two participation options: Check-in participants and selfie participants. Visitors can choose either. Simply check in along the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Loop or any connected cycling path and post a photo of yourself riding a bicycle, or take a digital photo of yourself cycling around the lake. Then visit the Shuishe or Xiangshan Visitor Centers to show your check-in record or uploaded photo, join the “Rediscover. Dynamic Sun Moon Lake” Facebook fan page, and you can exchange for one “Sun Moon Lake Map & Magic Scarf.”
Additionally, the “Firefly Eco Tour” runs every evening from April 15 to May 6, starting at 7 PM. Firefly viewing routes include the Shuishe Visitor Center, Ita Thao, and the Tanan area. The Shuishe Visitor Center and Ita Thao have 40 spots available per session each day, while the Tanan area only accepts weekend registrations, with a daily limit of 20 people. Registration is open on the Administration’s website from now until May 6, with each day's registration deadline being the day before the activity. On the day, professional ecological guides will lead participants to explore the magical world of fireflies.

In recent years, cycling tourism has become a popular trend. The cycling paths within the Sun Moon Lake area currently include the “Shuishe & Xiangshan Cycling Path,” “Yue Tan Cycling Path,” and “Toushe Cycling Path,” totaling nearly 10 kilometers in length. All paths are built in harmony with the natural landscape, attracting many visitors to bike and sightsee. Bicycle rental services around Sun Moon Lake have also significantly increased. In the future, the Administration will continue to develop and upgrade the cycling paths in the Sun Moon Lake area, aiming for separate lanes for bicycles and motor vehicles, completing the full loop around the lake in phases year by year.
