Taipei Expo Park is celebrating the upcoming Mother’s Day in May by hosting the “2012 Blossoming Beautiful Moms Selection.” Registration is open from now until May 2. All women aged 35 and above who are mothers are eligible to participate. After an initial written selection process, 20 contestants will be chosen to compete online on May 4, where the public will vote to select the top 10 Beautiful Moms to advance to the final round. The top three winners will receive prizes worth NT$100,000, NT$60,000, and NT$50,000 respectively. (Prizes include a century-old BH European brand massage chair, radiofrequency skin tightening treatments from a renowned clinic, Everlasting Flowers by Fuqi Technology, premium skincare sets from Eelin Beauty Lab, high-end cookware sets, and a one-year subscription to “Women’s Talk” among other valuable items.) All other participants who visit the “Blossoming Beautiful Moms Selection” event at Taipei Expo Park on May 19 will receive a beautiful participation gift bag.

Additionally, during the Mother’s Day weekend on May 12 from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, a charity carnival will be held at the Long Corridor Plaza and Entrance Plaza of Taipei Expo Park’s Yuanshan area (Exit 1 of Yuanshan Station on the Taipei Metro Danshui Line). The event will feature performances by Ko Nai-hsin, Nicky Wu, Lala Hsu, Jully Kim, M.A.C Hsiao, Shrimp, and Afro-dance performances by the Xiban Troupe. The public can exchange five receipts for one raffle ticket—the more receipts donated, the greater the chances of winning. Only receipts from March–April and May–June 2011 are accepted. All collected receipts will be donated in full to the Taiwan Kenneth Foundation for Autism.
Raffle prizes include a SYM 125CC motorcycle, Dyson vacuum cleaners, ASUS tablets, Panasonic mirrorless cameras, HTC smartphones, Giant bicycles, scales... and many other great prizes. To celebrate the 66th anniversary of Bank Taiwan, five-gram colorful gold bars will also be given to six lucky winners (matching the last four digits of a raffle ticket qualifies you). Starting from 10:00 AM, the public is also encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood—each 250cc donation comes with a beautiful gift, while supplies last.

On Mother’s Day, May 13 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Yuanshan Plaza at Taipei Expo Park will host an exhibition and hands-on experience of parenting tools and nostalgic toys. Through specially designed activities, male family members will be invited to take part in household chores traditionally labeled as “women’s work,” aiming to break down gender stereotypes in domestic roles. Interested individuals are welcome to join.
