2012 marks the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the British throne. Buckingham Palace has announced the celebration events to be held from June 2 to 5. Once a dominant maritime power, the UK, to celebrate its seafaring history, will gather over 1,000 boats on the Thames on June 3. Queen Elizabeth II will sail in the royal barge at the center of the flotilla.

At the same time, the Jubilee Bell, sponsored by London Vinter’s, will also travel along the route of the flotilla. Churches along the way will ring their bells in harmony, and celebrations will be held in Battersea Park, with live broadcasts on outdoor screens. On June 4, the Queen will light the UK’s last beacon around 22:30 GMT. Beacons will also be lit in various parts of the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Commonwealth countries, and other nations, totaling 2,012 beacons.
The highlight of June 5 will be the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral, scheduled for around 10:30 AM UK summer time. The carriage procession from Buckingham Palace is expected to take place at 2:30 PM, and around 3:00 PM, the Queen will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as Royal Air Force aircraft fly overhead, accompanied by a series of gun salute celebrations.
Additionally, the Foreign Office announced yesterday (10th) that the British Overseas Territory of the British Virgin Islands has granted visa-free treatment to our nationals. Starting April 3, holders of Republic of China passports can enjoy visa-free entry to the islands. Our nationals traveling to the islands for tourism, family visits, business, or study purposes for stays of up to six months do not need to apply for a visa.
