In 2010, the Harry Potter theme park opened at Universal Orlando Resort. Now, you don’t have to fly to the U.S. to experience the magical world of Harry Potter. Last week, Universal Studios Japan, Warner Bros., and UPR Universal Parks & Resorts jointly announced that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be built at Universal Studios Japan, with an expected opening in the second half of 2014.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan will feature the same iconic elements as its Orlando counterpart, including Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade Village, and numerous attractions. Like the Orlando park, the construction here aims for realism and perfection. A high-level team of creative experts will lead the development under the direction of Stuart Craig, the production designer for the Harry Potter film series.

J.K. Rowling, the original author of Harry Potter, said: “When I first visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, I was delighted by the outstanding results achieved through their meticulous attention to even the smallest details. I’m very pleased that the new park in Japan, like the one in Orlando, will offer a world expertly crafted by professionals and an experience that is truly thrilling.”

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter created by Universal Studios in Orlando has attracted millions of visitors. This theme park will be a place where everyone in the family can enjoy together. Its iconic centerpiece, the massive Hogwarts Castle, along with all surrounding scenery, will be faithfully reproduced from the films, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Harry Potter.
