The 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival drew 100,000 visitors within just two weeks of its opening. Among the sand sculptures, those featuring NBA star Jeremy Lin and golfer Yani Tseng—who have made their mark in the NBA and international golf circuits and were recently selected as part of Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people—are must-see attractions for visitors. The Northeast Coast & Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration further collaborated with outdoor sports brands to host a Sports Rock Party this weekend (May 26 and 27), offering free entry to those with 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival tickets. Indie bands such as ACE and Hidden Figure will perform on stage, adding even more rock energy to the sand sculpture event.

The Columbia “Icy Cool Summer” Sports Rock Party is free with your 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival ticket. Visitors can not only admire international and domestic sand sculptures but also participate in ice-cold booth activities, with opportunities to receive expert guidance and try out kayaking. Additionally, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on both May 26 and 27, indie bands such as ACE, CITY CAT, Traffic Light, Crazy Lazarus, and Hidden Figure will take the stage, with the southern Taiwan version of Mayday—Fire EX.—closing the show as the headliner.

The “2012 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival” runs until June 24 at Fulong Beach. This year’s participants include master sand sculptors from the United States, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Latvia, Singapore, Taiwan, and mainland China. The event features three super-large sand sculptures, 18 medium-sized ones, and 23 small ones, using a total of 5,000 tons of fine sand, breaking records once again in both quantity and scale.
