After breaking ground in 2009, it took over three years for the Red Matsu Port Cultural Park to begin its trial operation earlier this month. The park has launched three sightseeing yachts — “Haishan,” “Wujin,” and “BaoBi” — allowing visitors to enjoy the sunset and the scenery of large ships entering the harbor from the bay. During the trial operation period, the park admission ticket is offered at a half-price discount of NT$49, while the round-trip yacht tickets include admission fees, priced at NT$150 for full-price tickets, NT$75 for half-price tickets, and NT$120 for group tickets. Residents who were relocated from Red Matsu Port after 1990 can apply for an admission pass from the Cultural Affairs Bureau and enjoy free entry to the park and free yacht rides during the June trial operation by presenting the pass.

The Red Matsu Port Cultural Park is situated at the entrance of the Second Harbor of Kaohsiung Port. It was renovated by integrating the existing Gaotzi Tower with surrounding environmental resources, covering a total area of 3.42 hectares. The park is divided into six main areas: the Gaotzi Tower Revolving Restaurant, the Exhibition Hall, the Outdoor Exhibition Area, the Skywalk, the Dock and Waiting Room, and the Sea Viewing Platform. These areas showcase the unique lifestyle passed down through generations by the Red Matsu Port residents, such as “o_lake,” shrimp seedling farming, “fishing for cuttlefish and kah-yeh-zai,” local temples, and the charm of sail rafts. The park uses technology and creative exhibitions to present the historical features of Red Matsu Port.

In addition, the Red Matsu Port Cultural Park has incorporated yacht tourism by launching the “Red Matsu Port Cultural Park Sightseeing Yacht.” Named after the cultural characteristics of the Red Matsu Port settlement, the yachts are called “Haishan,” “Wujin,” and “BaoBi.” Taking a yacht ride to explore Red Matsu Port allows you to not only enjoy the beautiful sunset and get an up-close view of “large ships entering the harbor,” but also to take in the full scope of container handling operations at Kaohsiung Port during the voyage. During the trial operation period, the service initially operates on the Xiaogang route, traveling back and forth between Xiaogang Pier and the cultural park. The Pier-2 Art Center route is expected to launch in July.

After the official opening in July, they can enjoy free park admission with the pass and receive a 50% discount on yacht ride tickets.
