Pingtung County Government is promoting eco-tourism, launching the Pingnan Eco-Tourism event from July to October. With six 2-day, 1-night fully free sessions, the program will guide the public to visit attractions including the Axq Trail, Mudan Water Grassland, Shimen Ancient Battlefield, and Hengchun Ancient City. Through local guides, participants will trace the steps of human history and seek inspiration and meaning in life. Registration begins now and ends on August 31, and currently only residents of Pingtung County are eligible. Future plans include opening the itinerary to all Taiwanese.

This Pingnan eco-tourism program features a 2-day, 1-night itinerary that combines the unique local sights and tourism industries of Manzhou, Mudan, and Checheng. It is divided into two routes: Route A includes visits to the Axq Trail, Water Grassland, Mudan Reservoir, Shimen Ancient Battlefield, and Pan’s Farm; Route B covers Hengchun Ancient City, Lanyen Stream, Manzhou Lide, Port Village, and the Axq Trail. Each route has three sessions, with 20 people per session. The first session is scheduled for July 7, and the other sessions are on: July 21, August 4, September 1, September 15, and October 6.

The Department of Tourism and Communications stated that the entire activity is free and invites fellow Pingtung residents to experience it first. In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of their hometown’s natural ecology and cultural environment, the county hopes participants will later become top-notch guides for Pingtung. Online registration is open from now until August 31 (or until filled), and each participant only needs to pay a NT$500 deposit, which will be refunded upon full attendance.
