As the annual summer travel season arrives, expenses such as transportation and accommodation tend to rise. However, in addition to recent discounts offered by international accommodation providers, Cathay Pacific has also launched a Special Economy Class promotion starting today. Passengers who purchase Special Economy Class tickets through Cathay Pacific’s reservation department or major travel agencies and depart from Taiwan for destinations such as Europe, Australia, Johannesburg, and Mumbai before September 15 will be eligible for a free upgrade of their Taiwan–Hong Kong flight segment to Business Class, either on Cathay Pacific or Dragonair.

Currently, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair operate over 190 weekly flights between Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung in Taiwan and Hong Kong. In addition to enjoying a free Business Class seat and meal service on the Taiwan–Hong Kong segment, this upgrade promotion also offers 125% more Asia Miles for actual flight distance flown.

Cathay Pacific’s newly launched “Special Economy Class” features 26 to 34 seats, with approximately 96.5 cm of pitch between seats—about 15 cm more than in Economy Class. The seats are wider, and the backrests can recline more significantly. Amenities include a large main table, cocktail table, footrest, 10.6-inch personal TV screen, power outlets, multi-port connectors for personal devices, and additional storage space.
