Taiwan boasts many natural wonders, and numerous scenic spots are hailed as "hidden gems of Taiwan." The serene and dreamlike Forest of Serenity is one of them. Below is a list of three "Forest of Serenity" locations across Taiwan. Some offer camping opportunities, and a few are even accessible by metro. You don’t need to go abroad — Taiwan has its own breathtaking sights that rival those overseas.

1. Nantou — Forest of Serenity
The large stands of cryptomeria trees in the Forest of Serenity, having been submerged in water for extended periods, have turned into deadwood, forming a unique forest landscape. Due to its high elevation, the area is often shrouded in mist, earning it the nickname "Mist Forest." The tall tree clusters and reflections in the puddles complement each other, and with the surrounding misty haze, the ethereal beauty makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a magical scene, exuding both a poetic and melancholic atmosphere.

2. Tainan — Vanaheim Love Manor
The manor features wooden walkways across the lake, offering views of the surrounding woods and their reflections on the water. This tranquil space is known as the "Tainan version of the Forest of Serenity" and has become a popular spot for wedding photography.

Vanaheim Love Manor also welcomes visitors for camping. In addition to its beautiful forest scenery, there’s a white sandy beach where visitors can play in the water or quietly enjoy the blue coastline, making it a popular local destination.

3. Kaohsiung — Dadong Wetland Park
Covering approximately 9 hectares, Dadong Wetland Park is located right across from the Dadong Arts and Cultural Center in Kaohsiung’s Fengshan District. Formerly known as Zhongzheng Park, it underwent years of greening and revitalization by the Kaohsiung City Government to become the beautiful wetland park it is today. With its dense woods, clear lake water, freely swimming fish, and small waterfalls, the peaceful atmosphere has many visitors saying it feels like stepping into the Forest of Serenity — a place to momentarily forget life’s complexities and relax in the city.
