The annual Qixi Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day, is coming on August 23. Taipei City will be holding a Valentine’s Day video submission event, accepting entries from now until August 6. The contest is calling for the most romantic and creative confession videos. The winning videos will be projected on the wall of the Taipei City Hall on Qixi Festival, August 23, and participants have the chance to win round-trip tickets to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and other prizes.

The “2012 Taipei Valentine’s Day” event will take place on August 23–24 at the Civic Plaza in front of Taipei City Hall. Prior to the event, a “2012 Taipei Valentine’s Day Video Submission Contest” will be held under the theme “Taipei’s Beautiful Waters,” divided into three categories: “Proposal & Confession Group” (unmarried couples), “Couple Confession Group” (married couples), and “Creative Confession Group” (open to all). Videos must be within 90 seconds and shot within Taipei City.

Each category will have rankings from 1st to 10th place, plus 5 honorable mentions. The top 3 works in each group will be projected on the west exterior wall of Taipei City Hall on Qixi Day. The grand prize winner will receive round-trip tickets to Tokyo for two, while the second and third place winners will receive round-trip tickets to Hong Kong for two. In addition, on the evenings of August 23–24, Civic Plaza will feature soft love songs, stunning 3D and interactive projections, along with a sea of twinkling lights, making it the perfect date spot in Taipei.
