Good news for travelers who love goshawk watching and taking boat trips to admire coastal scenery. The Matsu National Scenic Area Administration has launched the “2012 Matsu Sea Tour & Eco Goshawk Watching” event. From now until August 31, boats depart every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 09:00 AM from Fuzhou Pier in Nangan, heading to islands such as Zhong Island—home to tern protection areas—to admire the beauty of terns. Along the way, you can enjoy unique local ecological landforms and the views of former military strongholds from the sea. The registration fee is NT$230 per person, with a maximum of 45 people per trip.

Gu Yongyuan, director of the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration, said that last year’s eco goshawk tour was warmly received by participants. This year, a summer-exclusive itinerary is being offered, giving the public a chance to admire the beauty of Matsu from the sea from a different perspective. With the help of professional guides, visitors can not only learn about the tern colonies but also get a close-up view of attractions such as Shiyu Islet, Beigan Airport, and the Sea-based Confucius Statue.

Participants are required to check in at the passenger service counter in the waiting room of Fuzhou Port in Nangan at 09:00 AM on the day of departure.
